Knee Pain

Of the major joints in the human body, the knees are probably second only to the shoulder in terms of frequency of injury. The knees are major weightbearing joints, and thus mobility can be problematic when suffering with knee pain.

Common causes of knee pain include:

1. Arthritis

2. Bursitis

3. Tendon injuries - tendinopathies

4. Cartilage (meniscus) injury

5. Ligament injury

6. Ilio-tibial band (ITB) syndrome

7. Baker's cyst

8. Hip problems

Often knee problems can have an effect on the mechanics of the leg, so your therapist will often look at the 'big picture' when assessing and treating you.

Successful treatments for knee pain include injections, exercise prescription, strength & conditioning, joint mobilisations, and taping.
